About Suzanne Mallouk, M.D.

Psychiatrist • Psychoanalyst • Educator • Speaker

She has worked in a wide range of settings across New York City—including hospitals, community clinics, and private practice—bringing depth, empathy, and clinical rigor to her work with individuals and families.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Mallouk serves as the Director of Psychiatric Services at a prominent mental health clinic in Chelsea, where she leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to integrative and patient-centered care. She also teaches and supervises psychiatry residents and psychoanalytic candidates, mentoring the next generation of clinicians in both psychodynamic and contemporary psychiatric approaches.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Mallouk had an early and formative career in the arts in New York City, an experience that continues to inform her understanding of human creativity, suffering, and resilience. Her unique background bridges art and science—bringing sensitivity, imagination, and depth to her psychiatric and psychoanalytic work.

Dr. Mallouk leads an ongoing weekly psychoanalytic seminar and study group designed for clinicians, psychoanalytic candidates, trainees, and mental health professionals seeking to deepen their engagement with psychoanalytic theory and clinical work. The group explores foundational and contemporary psychoanalytic concepts, case discussion, and the evolving application of psychoanalytic thought to clinical practice.
